SCMC OFFERS IT ALL

It indeed has been an enriching experience for me, a beautiful blend of achieving academic excellence along with plenty of co-curricular activities

It’s time to pen down the unforgettable journey of studying media at Symbiosis Centre for Media & Communication. It indeed has been an enriching experience for me, a beautiful blend of achieving academic excellence along with plenty of co-curricular activities. Opportunity to interact and be guided by some of the best media faculty in India, meeting celebrities like Amitabh Bachchcan, Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui among others at various events, organising fests like DZMA: India’s only design & media festival, The East Side Story, Jugaad and more.

Amidst all these events & activities, lectures & internships, I cherish the beautiful blend of cultural & co-curricular events organised by SCMC, especially Vaividhya. I love how SCMC ensures that events like Maadhyam, Vaividhya & lecture-demonstrations take place at regular intervals, providing a platform to the students to celebrate cultural diversity.

‘Vaividhya’ was something I eagerly waited for! It was an escape from the monotony of writing class tests & submitting assignments every alternative week. It helped me to once again connect with dance & drama. It helped me talk about issues I felt very strongly about and I got an opportunity to share it with my batch-mates in the most entertaining way. Vaividhya was most special to me as it was one platform where the entire batch rehearsed for hours and performed together. Winning Trishul – an amalgamation of three different forms of performing arts last year, instilled great confidence in me. Preparing for the 8 minute act in less than a week was a challenge task that I accomplished successfully.

On a personal front, I got to head the Advertising Club in college and preside over the Rotaract Club of Symbiosis as well. Being aware of our social responsibilities, leading & motivating my colleagues to join hands to help the needy and working for children from the weaker economic sector was a satisfying experience. The people I met in these three years were all so different. SCMC’s focus on choosing candidates from every strata of society and bringing them together on the same platform helped me realize my potential & position when compared to all of them. I met students from practically every State in India. Their cultures, backgrounds and experiences in life were absolutely different from mine. It was enriching to talk to international and NRI students from different countries, gain an insight on their perspective in life and later, find some of my closest friends in them.

Initiatives of Change in Panchgani, helped me break free from my own insecurities. Interacting with all my batch mates so freely and listening to their life stories was a wonderful experience. It made me more optimistic and I realized that there was nothing more important in life than doing something you are passionate about.

I cannot thank SCMC enough for the excellent blend of curricular and co-curricular activities that made learning a joyful experience.
