During the first session in the audio lab, I was immediately reminded of how my father used to mix music and his transition from turntables to online editing
At a very young age, I was made accustomed to appreciate music. My family has always been a part of the music industry in some way or the other. My father used to mix music on his turntable, which was how I was introduced to it. Since then, my journey with music has come a long way. After completing High School, I knew that I wanted to get into a mass communication college and specialize in Audio Visual Communication. At SCMC, in my third semester, I was introduced to the module ‘Introduction to Audiography and Music’.
The audiography lab in our college has state of the art equipment and the latest software and hardware for us to work on. It is well equipped to help us learn and understand the art of sound and music. The audio practical sessions helped us get a hands-on experience of what we learnt in class. During the first session in the audio lab, I was immediately reminded of how my father used to mix music and his transition from turntables to online editing. My first experience of editing sound was at home with my father but at college, Prof. Sagade helped us understand and learn the art of sound editing.
I was extremely ecstatic to get my hands on a new software to create and edit audio content. The practical sessions helped us understand how to tweak the various aspects of sound such as the pitch, amplitude, frequency etc. We also learnt how to edit the sound tracks of the video content. Apart from this, the theory classes set a clear base for us to work on. It was the most interesting module for me in third semester. I’m looking forward to the module, ‘Fundamentals of Audiography and Music,’ in the fourth semester.
