Reaching New Heights

I felt like I had accomplished a challenge and I could restore the faith and get rid of the self-doubt that had crept in

Symbiosis Centre for Media & Communication is a place that has changed me as a person. I remember how my relatives and friends had coaxed me into taking up the admission as SCMC is one of the top mass communication colleges in India. The weird churning in my stomach due to leaving home still haunts me at times. But if it wasn’t for this college, I would not have left home and been the confident individual that I am today.

Getting accustomed to the college, its system and environment was a task for everyone. Initially we did have to overcome tiny speed breakers in our journey like coping with its rules and regulations. But eventually I found myself enjoying, and loving every bit of what I did.

The times when I had an idle weekend, it felt weird and that was when I realised how this college had slowly seeped into me. SCMC had made sure that I was always being productive and was occupied.

Through all of this, the stress busters that college gave us were the field trips and study tours. My favourite was the Rajgadh trek. It was a very challenging experience, and Sagar Sir had warned us about the same before. The trek had started at around 6 a.m. There wasn’t a well-defined pathway to walk on and reach our respective destination. Along the way, we even found ourselves lost but with team work and cooperation overcame the hurdle. We kept taking breaks and enjoyed the nature around us. The scenery was so beautiful, and I felt at peace. I remember how thoughts kept flooding my mind, whether or not I would be able to make it to the top.

But, I actually did and when I did I had tears in my eyes, the feeling was so overwhelming. I felt like I had accomplished a challenge and I could restore the faith and get rid of the self-doubt that had crept in.

This experience was by far one of my best experiences. Sagar Sir’s constant motivation was something that kept me going. I will always be thankful to this college for shaping me into the person I am today.
