There have been all sorts of experiences and learnings, but the one thing that would take the cake is the accessibility of AV equipment and spaces and the opportunity to be able to share an idea
I joined Symbiosis Centre for Media & Communication in 2015 after I decided that just pursuing English Honours wouldn’t float my boat. While aspiring to learn the art of what goes into making a film, I learned about the Centre through a high school senior who was already pursuing Advertising at the institute. She helped me understand that SCMC was a window that would help me see the world through a different perspective for the rest of my life. So, my journey here started.
There have been all sorts of experiences and learning, but the one thing that would take the cake away is the accessibility of AV equipment and spaces and the opportunity to be able to share an idea.
“There’s no yellow dress here, it’s all black and grey.” – Jane’s father on the day of her funeral in Breaking Bad’s last episode of the second season.
Mass Communication with its various lessons on the detailed utilities of cameras and editing software helped me add fuel to the fire of my imagination and engaged me into putting an idea or opinion across. But, what tops everything is the opportunity I got to pursue Audio Visual as a specialization.
I have been painting for a while and have understood that the process of creating art from a little imagination can be hard. The same applies to imagining a picture, photographing it and then developing it into an image. But after attending lectures and completing assignments and projects, I’ve come to the conclusion that SCMC is essentially a high definition camera through which I could see opportunities and, that no matter how wild an aspiration, it could still be taken forward. While struggling to sleep, I realized what I had been wanting to do and what could be the purpose of certain of my strengths and weaknesses.
From the shooting floor to the rented college-standard-heavy-duty crane, the equipment and the wisdom of the faculty have taught me the art of composing a story and delivering it in my own style. No wonder Symbiosis Centre for Media & Communication is one of the best mass communication colleges in India.
The institute has shaped me as a character and taught me the tools and the knowledge which will guide me further in life.
