In the sixth semester when everyone is exploring placement options, Mr. Srinivas Kulkarni, Director of Organisational Development, Social Kinnect walked among the Advertising students of the Batch of 2019 to tell them that the industry today is more exciting than ever before. On January 14 Mr. Kulkarni conducted a session on campaign planning and introduced the students to concepts in Marketing Technology that he said were no longer in the future, but the present.
Social Kinnect is a digital marketing company that services a number of prestigious brands, including Tide, Everyouth, Decathalon, fbb and Blackberry. It was exciting to hear about Mr. Kulkarni’s own work and experiences at the agency. The motto of “Kinnectors”, he said, was that they should not stop learning. The company has regular training sessions so the people there are always up-to-date with the global trends and best practices.
The students had plenty of questions for him and took part in an interesting exercise that involved using a selection of words to conceptualize a marketing campaign.
Mr. Kulkari closed the session with a clip from one his favourite soap operas, The Pitch, a show about advertising and the struggles despite the visible victories of the industry. It left the class on an enthusiastic note.
